Torre Astura is a fortified coastal tower and an island in Lazio, located in the territory of the municipality of Nettuno, near Camping Villaggio Isola Verde. In imperial times, a villa was built on the site, partially on the mainland and partially on an artificial island, equipped with a large fishpond, the remains of which are still partially visible.
In 1193, the site was acquired by the Frangipane family, who, to protect themselves from the Saracens, built a maritime fortress with a pentagonal tower surrounded by water and connected to the mainland by a brick-arched bridge. The surrounding area features a pine forest, through which the Astura River flows.
